Post Malone Delivers A Successful 'Country Crossover'
As a life-long fan of Country Music, mostly with traditional leanings, I take a moment to salute Post Malone on a very successful 'Country Crossover'. Artists from other genres have recorded 'Country' songs for years, and several have succeeded with full transitions to the genre, or with a memorable cameo. Sometimes when an artist, that has already had success in another genre, announces they are 'going country', we wonder how it might play out? I'm sure many of you thought that when Post Malone made the announcement he was 'headed to Country Music.'
After watching his jump into Country Music over the past year, I would like to think that many agree that he did have a very successful 'Country Crossover'- and he really went 'all in'! The hit duets are in heavy rotation, like 'Help' with Morgan Wallen, 'Pour Me A Drink' with Blake Shelton and 'Guy For That' with Luke Combs. More impressively, I appreciate the album tracks with Brad Paisley, Hank Williams Jr., Tim McGraw and Dolly Parton. Add in a fun collaboration with Bluegrass great Billy Strings and duets with Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll, Hardy, Ernest and Lainey Wilson- you can feel and hear the commitment Post Malone made to creating a 'Country' album. In addition to a side project with Dwight Yoakam, appearances on Country Music TV Shows, and a debut on the Grand Ole Opry with Vince Gill and friends, the man did it right!
Check out the 'F-1 Trillion' album, and let us know what you think! In my humble opinion, I think Post Malone made one of the best 'Crossover' leaps into Country Music - and I look forward to hearing more.
