Halloween is just around the corner, and the Capital Region is buzzing with excitement!

From haunted hayrides to trunk-or-treats, there's no shortage of spooky-ooky fun for kids of all ages. Here's your guide to the best Halloween activities in the area.

Haunted Attractions

The Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Attractions are a must-visit for older kids and brave little souls. But don't worry, they also offer a Children's Day with less scary fun. Another haunted hotspot is Nightmares at Liberty Ridge Farm, featuring a variety of creepy attractions.

Trunk-or-Treats and Trick-or-Treating

Trunk-or-treats are a fun and safe way for kids to trick-or-treat. Check out the Trunk or Treat at the Crossings on October 18. And, of course, no Halloween is complete without traditional trick-or-treating. In Albany, kids usually start trick-or-treating around 4:30 p.m. or 5:00 p.m., with most finishing up by 9:00 p.m.

Museums and Cooking Classes

The New York State Museum hosts a Halloween spooktacular with creepy art projects, ghoulish games, and spooky science specimens. For kids who love to get their hands dirty in the kitchen, Capital Cooks NY is offering a Halloween-themed cooking class on October 26.

Outdoor Fun

Get your little monsters moving at the Albany's Trick or Trot fun run. Strollers are welcome, and they can't wait for you to see their brand-new Halloween-themed course.

Indoor Play

On Halloween day, the Children's Museum of Science and Technology (CMOST) hosts Halloween Happenings with slimy science experiments and cool, creepy crafts. At the Altamont Fairgrounds, kids can enjoy a hay maze, a less scary haunted house, and more kid-friendly activities.

Events

Mark your calendars for these spooktacular events:

  • Halloween FUN-Raiser at the Children's Museum at Saratoga on October 20
  • Frights and Fancy Teen Halloween Party at the Kinderhook Memorial Library on October 18
  • Kids Halloween Party in Waterford on October 26

With so many fun and spooky activities, the Capital Region is the perfect place to celebrate Halloween with your little goblins. Happy haunting!
