The event keeps getting bigger each year.

Just like New York City has Times Square, an increasingly popular place to be for New Year's Eve in Upstate New York is Saratoga. For decades, the city has put on festivities that include musical acts, vendors, as well as a number of indoor and outdoor activities. It began in the mid 1990's as 'First Night Saratoga' and attracted tens of thousands to the Spa City.

For the past two years it has been called 'Saratoga New Year's Fest', but come 2024 into 2025, it will be known as 'Saratoga New Year's Eve'.

Todd Shimkus, president of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce tells News 10 how Saratoga has become a New Year's Eve destination over the years:

Collectively, our organizations host, promote, and manage over 500 events per year, which means we know how to throw a party and to bring people together. The 6 p.m. fireworks show from the top of the City Center’s parking garage, in particular, has been a big hit with families and drives people into our downtown restaurants and bars early in the evening.

Specifics will be announced in the coming months, but Shimkus says revelers can expect plenty of kids activities, bands, fireworks and a New Year's Day 5k. For more, visit https://www.discoversaratoga.org/events/saratoga-new-years-eve/
