[PHOTOS, VIDEO] Tour Bus Driver Strands Passengers on Central Ave

CBS 6 Video

The driver tried to drive though the flooded road.

A bus headed from Albany to New York City tried to make it through high flood waters and failed. Miserably. CBS 6 was on scene covering the flooding and caught the ordeal on camera.

There was an estimated three feet of water in Central Avenue between Frost Road and Valtrano Road after heavy rains Monday afternoon. Although police had the road blocked off, the driver of a tour bus with 16 passengers on board thought he could make it through. He did not. In fact, the bus stalled and all the passengers were stuck for nearly two hours.

One of the passengers, Xavier Alicea, told CBS 6 he couldn't believe the driver even made the attempt:

I’m straight angry right now. It’s like , I felt he should have never did that, knowing he wasn’t going to make it through

Making matters worse, the bus stalled in the highest point of the water, flooding the luggage compartment at the bottom of the bus. According to bus passenger Madoka Weldon:

And now all of our stuff is ruined. Everything is flooded

CBS 6 reached out to the bus company, Wanda Coach, they said their tickets will be refunded but no word on if they will cover the cost of damage to the passenger's belongings. The driver was ticketed by police.
