The fire broke out just before 8pm Monday night.

Last night in the Town of Colonie, several fire departments responded to a house fire on Locust Park. The fire broke out around 8pm and it took roughly an hour to get the fire out.

Unfortunately, there were a number of people that were trapped inside the house, 3 of them ended up losing their lives. 2 others were taken to the hospital, suffering from 2nd degree burns. They are expected to survive.

Colonie Fire Company Chief Jeff Kayser told New10 ABC that the house was a "hoarding house" which made it not only difficult for the fire fighters to get to the people that were trapped inside but also difficult to determine the cause of this fire.

Locust Park will be closed from Central Ave. to Thunder Road while an investigation takes place.

Chief Kayser also told New10 ABC that this is the worst fire he's ever seen in his 43 years of being a fire fighter.

The house was a total loss and will end up being demolished once the investigation is completed. If there is anyone that was an eye witness to the fire or if you have any video of the fire, you are asked to contact Colonie Police at (518) 783-2754.
